Your pre-amp has been designed to operate with the voltage delivered by the battey fitted in your instrument. You MUST select the same voltage on the ZAM.

Some active microphones or some pre-amps operatin in 9 volts can also operate in 18 volts. It must be done withe manufacturer clearance.
