Michel-Yves Kochmann was born in 1962 in Mulhouse. He studies the guitar at the Conservatory of Tours and is a first prizewinner for guitar in1983 before moving to Paris.

He plays the guitar and the bass guitar. On stage, he has played for Alain Souchon, Laurent Voulzy, Les Enfoirés ( as early as 1994 ), Liane Foly , Sol en Si, Pierre Vassiliu, to name only a few.

He also played for Luciano Pavarotti in Lyons and then with “The Three Tenors“ under the Eiffel Tower during the 98 World Cup !

Michel-Yve has also been musical director on several major tours : Jane Birkin, Elsa and L5.

He has contributed to numerous albums and singles for Alain Souchon, Laurent Voulzy, Johnny Hallyday, Patrick Bruel, Renaud, Julien Clerc, Michel Fugain, Louis Chedid, Nolwenn Leroy, Véronique Lortal, Ophélie Winter and has recorded many movie soundtracks.

He has also released several solo albums !

MYK recently toured with Alain Souchon, played the guitars on the set of the TV show "La Nouvelle Star“, played on the latest album by Alizée and he has just released a new album with Vox Terrae “Only Guitars“.
