When in 1976, the young Thierry Fanfant begins teaching himself bass, he is barely twelve. He progresses quickly in his parents music group "fair nick stas“. In the early 80s, he spends a few months in the double bass class of the Conservatoire of Dugny ( 93 ). In 1986/87, in a “Jeunes Volontaires“ class, he learns to play the congas and, of course, the bass with a private teacher, Piere MortarellI. In 1992, he enters the double bass class in the Conservatoire of Le Bourget (93). In 1997, he studies the instruments with the late double bass master Jean-François Jenny-Clark. Within a few years,, he makes his passion his profession and Thierry works hard, mostly as bass and double bass player but also as arranger, composer, producer and writer. He can be seen playing the guitar, singing or at the percussions. He divides his time between concerts, tours, recording studios and TV shows. On stage or in studio, he plays with various artists and bands of different styles, among which :Dédé Saint-Prix, Franky Vincent, Joëlle Ursull, Papa Wemba, Gazolinn, Al Singer, Georges Seba, Pierre Barouh, Andy Sheppard, Daniel-Sidney Bechet, Ralph Tamar, (directeur musical) Siegfried Kessler, Tullio De Piscopo, Ismaël Isaac, Kina Soukichi, Kassav, Mario Canonge, Édith Lefel (directeur musical) Lokua Kanza, Viktor Lazlo, Tanya Saint-Val, Michel Fugain, (directeur musical) La Compagnie Créole, Enzo Enzo, Tony Chasseur, Antoine Illouz, Beetova Obas (directeur musical), Philippe Lavil (directeur musical), Henri Guédon, Sol en Si, Au P’tit Bonheur, Marc Berthoumieux, Marie-José Alié, Jacob Desvarieux, Enzo Enzo, Michel Sardou, Zic Band (directeur musical), Paco Séry, Tony O’Malley, Francis Lockwood, Laurent Voulzy, Jocelyne Beroard, Angélique Kidjo (directeur musical), Teri Moïse, Eddy Louiss, Andy Narell, Daniel Levi, L5, Carlos Santana, Bernard Lavilliers... He has played on more than 500 albums. Thierry will also act as a musical director for several tv shows : Hommage à Edith Lefel, The 20th anniversary of RFO, Chanté Noël RFO. Last but not least, his very own solo album, "Intimes“, released in April 2005. True to his eclectic musical inspiration and many cultural influences, this album brings together the best of his musician friends. |
