Born in Biarritz, he starts playing the bass in 1978 and the double bass in 1981.

Nicolas Chelly played at dances until his passion for Jazz made him join the Bob Selllers trio with whom he played all the clubs in the South-West of France.

A fan of Latino music, he plays with Brazilian artists and later discovers the Salsa !

Nicolas moves to Paris in 2001 to practice the double bass and play Jazz.

He meets John Simms and records a soul music album on double bass in 2005.

In 2006, he goes back his roots, pop and rock.

He tours Germany with Terry Lee Hale in 2007 and 2008.

Nicolas also plays with François Staal, Lune, Balablan, Awa Timbo and contributes to a tribute to Jeff Buckley with Loko !

Nicolas is currently working with Batista and regularly joins this Latino-Pop group for gigs in Paris.
